Tom Holland's Spider-Man just did something no Marvel release has managed in India for a while. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the 500 crore net mark at the domestic box office, closing in at 501.87 crore net after 46 days, according to Koimoi's day-wise tracking. That works out to roughly 592.22 crore gross in India alone.

Destin Daniel Cretton's film, which brings back Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo alongside Holland, was never a cheap swing. Its production budget sits between $200 and $220 million by Koimoi's numbers. Six and a half weeks in, the Indian leg alone has clawed back a serious chunk of that, and the film is still running.

Meanwhile two very different films are having their own quieter moments in the same theatres.

Yash's Toxic has now made 244.79 crore net in India in 19 days, which converts to 288.89 crore gross. Add an overseas gross of 43.3 crore and the Geethu Mohandas-directed film, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi rounding out the cast, sits at 332.19 crore worldwide gross less than three weeks out. Not a Sardar 2 or Hanuman Ansh kind of run, but a solid one for a film carrying that much star wattage on one marquee.

Then there's Awarapan 2. Nitin Kakkar's sequel, with Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, has crossed 156.08 crore net in India across 31 days, which is 184.19 crore gross. Overseas adds another 33.41 crore, taking the worldwide gross to 217.6 crore. Koimoi's numbers put the original Awarapan's entire lifetime India net at 7.75 crore, so the sequel isn't just outperforming its predecessor, it's doing so by a margin that would have seemed absurd back when the first film released. Different era, different marketing muscle, but the jump is worth sitting with.

What ties these three together isn't genre or scale, it's timing. All three are mid-run reports landing on the same day, which is unusual, and it says something about how crowded September has gotten at the Indian box office. A Hollywood tentpole nursing a 500 crore lead, a big Kannada-Hindi crossover star holding steady in the mid-200s, and a Hindi sequel quietly running past 150 crore net without much noise around it.

The real test now is the next fortnight. Brand New Day needs its holds to stay strong through a fourth weekend if it wants to push past its overseas cousins in the conversation about 2026's biggest Marvel run outside the US. Toxic has to figure out whether 19-day momentum converts into a fourth-week bump or a slide. And Awarapan 2, riding an unlikely wave compared to the original, has to prove this isn't front-loaded goodwill from Hashmi's fanbase running out of steam. Numbers for the next few days should make that clearer.
