Now, it’s tracking for just $6 million total across 2,606 locations, placing it firmly in the domestic top five but far below initial hopes. The movie, which stars Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen, the Facebook whistleblower who exposed internal company practices, arrives as a spiritual sequel to Sorkin’s 2010 hit The Social Network.
It follows her collaboration with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) in a high-stakes effort to reveal what the platform knew about its impact on mental health, democracy, and misinformation. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 56% critics’ score, with the consensus reading: “An urgent warning that feels like it’s arriving a little too late, Aaron Sorkin’s spiritual sequel to one of his crowning achievements is a worthwhile critique of social media’s omnipresence that Still, pales in comparison to its predecessor.” That sentiment echoes in the numbers.
