The Vvaan Beats Param Sundari to Become Sidharth Malhotra's Biggest Post-COVID Hit

Despite losing nearly 4,830 shows to Drishyam: The Conclusion's release, Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's fantasy thriller crossed 58 crore net on day 8, helped along by a Gandhi Jayanti holiday bump.

Sidharth Malhotra has a new career-best. The Vvaan, his fantasy thriller with Tamannaah Bhatia, pulled in 3.25 crore net on its second Friday, taking the total to 58.11 crore net (roughly 68.58 crore gross) at the Indian box office. That number alone pushes it past Param Sundari's 54.85 crore, making The Vvaan Malhotra's highest-grossing film in the post-COVID era, according to Koimoi's tracking.

It arrives at that milestone under some pressure. Day 7 had brought in 4.61 crore, so Friday's number marks a 29.5% drop. On paper that looks steep, but context matters here. The film lost around 4,830 shows as cinemas scrambled to make room for Drishyam 3's grand arrival, so holding onto that much of its audience with a fraction of the screens counts as a decent recovery, not a collapse.

The Gandhi Jayanti holiday did its bit too. Net collections for the day crept close to the 60 crore mark partly because a public holiday usually means fuller afternoon and evening shows, and The Vvaan appears to have used that cushion well even while competing for screen space with Ajay Devgn's sequel.

Where does it go from here? Koimoi's projection has the film crossing 75 crore net eventually, which would be a comfortable number for a film that opened without the kind of pre-release buzz that typically floats a Bollywood fantasy title. Eight days in, with Drishyam 3 hogging most of the oxygen in multiplexes, The Vvaan is still finding its audience in the gaps.

Part of that staying power seems to be word of mouth. The film is sitting at 8.6 out of 10 on BookMyShow with more than 34,000 votes, a rating that suggests audiences walking out happier than the trade might have expected going in. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Niraj Kothari and Arunabh Kumar across Balaji Motion Pictures, TVF Motion Pictures and 11:11 Productions, the film also features Anup Soni, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari and Maniesh Paul.

For Malhotra, the number is notable less for its size and more for what it says about his post-pandemic run. Param Sundari had held the top spot for a while. Now it doesn't. Whether The Vvaan can stretch its legs through a second weekend squeezed between Drishyam 3's dominance and whatever opens next will decide if 75 crore turns out to be conservative or optimistic. The film released on September 25, 2026, and every day from here adds to a number that's already rewritten one actor's post-COVID scoreboard.
