Vijay's first trip abroad since taking charge as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has turned into a two-track story, and only one of those tracks has anything to do with governance.

The official brief was straightforward. London, for talks aimed at pulling industrial investment into the state, and the inauguration of an international car race at the Silverstone circuit. Vijay flew in for both. But it's a viral clip from the track and a stray Instagram selfie that have actually taken over group chats back home.

First, the clip. Ajith Kumar and his racing team are competing at Silverstone this weekend, and a video of Vijay arriving trackside with his security detail, spotting Ajith and jogging over for a hug, has been doing the rounds. Fans turned up in numbers just to catch the two stars in one frame.

Then came the selfie. Actress Radhika Sarathkumar posted a picture with Trisha Krishnan from London on Instagram, writing that she'd run into Trisha in the city and wishing Ajith luck for the weekend race. Nothing in the post mentions Vijay at all. But Trisha turning up in London at the same time as the Chief Minister was enough to set off a fresh round of speculation, because the two have been linked romantically for months.

No photograph of Vijay and Trisha together has surfaced from this trip, according to Oneindia Malayalam's report, and there's nothing to confirm she travelled with him or is attending the same events. That hasn't stopped fans from drawing their own conclusions online.

The backstory explains why the guessing game escalated so fast. Vijay has been living separately from his wife Sangeetha for years, and she spent an extended stretch based in London herself. Sangeetha has filed for divorce, alleging in her petition that Vijay was involved with someone from the film industry, per the same report. The petition itself has not publicly named an actress.

Trisha's name entered the rumour mill after she showed up as a guest at Vijay's swearing-in ceremony and again at the state's Independence Day function, both official events where her presence was read by plenty of people as more than coincidence. That reading was speculation then, and it remains speculation now. This London overlap has just poured fuel on it.

Neither Vijay's office nor Trisha have addressed the dating chatter directly, and Sangeetha's divorce proceedings haven't produced a named third party in the public domain. Until either of those changes, this stays exactly what it is, a viral selfie, a suggestive coincidence, and a comments section drawing its own map.

What happens next probably depends less on London and more on whatever Sangeetha's legal filing eventually spells out in open court.
