Pinkvilla's weekly trade tracker trims its opening estimate for the film days before release even as Ramayana: Part One's advance booking and trailer response push its own forecast toward the top of the range.
Udta Teer walks into its release week with a smaller number attached to its name than it had a few days ago.
In its final pre-release update, Pinkvilla Predicts has revised the film's opening forecast down to Rs 2.5-4 crore nett, from an earlier range of Rs 3-5 crore nett. The reasoning is simple enough. Buzz hasn't moved much in the last stretch before release, and advance bookings are sitting in a range similar to Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, broadly matching what trade trackers had already expected rather than beating it. The upper end of the earlier range, the report notes, now looks out of reach.
It's not a dramatic fall. The film was never being tipped for a blockbuster opening, and the revised range still sits close to where expectations always were. But it's a reminder that trailers and promo events only count for so much if they don't translate into people actually booking tickets days out.
Compare that with what's happening on the other end of the same tracker. Ramayana: Part One has had, by Pinkvilla's own account, a complicated run-up. Some of the early VFX material drew criticism online, enough that confidence in the film took a visible hit at one point. The trailer that dropped last week appears to have reversed that. The response has been described as extremely positive, and with advance bookings in India now two days old and off to what the report calls a superb start, the marketing push has clearly found its footing. Multiple promotional events over the past few days have added to that momentum.
The one asterisk Pinkvilla attaches to Ramayana is the calendar. It's releasing in a pre-Diwali window, and it's been a while since a film of this scale has tried that slot. Nobody quite knows how Indian audiences, mid-festive-shopping and pre-Diwali plans, respond to a tentpole release right now. That uncertainty hasn't stopped the tracker from nudging its pinpoint forecast closer to the high end of its projected range, but it's flagged as the one variable nobody can fully account for.
Worth remembering here, as Pinkvilla itself disclaims every week: these are trade estimates built off advance trends and market sentiment, not certified numbers. The real test for both films starts the moment they actually open. Udta Teer's release is imminent, and Ramayana: Part One's pre-Diwali gamble gets its answer in the days right after.
