Fourteen runs off one over, and the bowler at the other end was Mohammed Siraj.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did it again on Sunday, taking apart the India pacer during East Zone's Duleep Trophy final clash against South Zone in Chennai. Two boundaries and a six in the same over, no visible nerves, against a bowler who's played Test cricket for India. That's the sequence, according to The Free Press Journal, which had the video up within hours.

South Zone had gone out and got Siraj specifically for this final. A high-stakes match, a marquee bowler brought in to add teeth to the attack. Sooryavanshi's response was to treat him like any other net bowler.

This isn't new for the 15-year-old. He arrived at this final off a semifinal against Central Zone where he made 92, then followed it with a quickfire 40 in the second innings to help East Zone through. So the Siraj over isn't an isolated flourish. It's the continuation of a pattern that's been building all tournament.

What makes it land, though, is who's on the other end. Domestic bowlers get taken apart by promising kids all the time and nobody notices. Siraj has played international cricket. He's bowled to the best batters in the world under real pressure. For a 15-year-old to walk down the track, or stand tall and free the arms, against someone with that pedigree, and make it look almost easy, that's the bit that gets clipped and shared.

Sooryavanshi has been on this trajectory for a while now, the teenager whose name keeps surfacing in conversations about India's next generation of batting talent. Every tournament seems to add another data point. A century here, an assault on a senior pro there. The Duleep Trophy final was supposed to be a serious four-day contest between the country's best domestic sides. Instead, for a few overs on Sunday, it turned into theatre built around one teenager and one over.

Whether East Zone can turn this into a trophy is still an open question, the final has days left to run and Duleep finals are rarely settled by one passage of play. But Sooryavanshi has already given the tournament its clip of the week. The question now is what he does with the bat over the next three days, and whether South Zone find an answer to him before the match is done.
