Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi star in a 2026 film that examines societal backlash after a woman rejects a suitor who dies by suicide. The story lands amid rising protests over women's safety.
Pooja Meri Jaan opens with a ring on a hand, a proposal that isn’t accepted, and a man who dies in silence. By the time the credits roll, the film has spent two hours asking if consent can be negotiated after the fact — but it never answers.
Pooja Meri Jaan is not a thriller. It’s a courtroom sermon with a lead actress who’s too good for the script.
Pooja Meri Jaan hits screens on October 1, 2026 — and with it, a long-delayed film finally finds its audience.
