Episode 1138 of Brahmamudi, which aired September 16, closes on its biggest jolt yet: a police raid on the lodge where Madan and Swathi have been holed up, ending with both of them under arrest.

The show has spent weeks building the Madan-Swathi track as a family embarrassment waiting to happen, and it lands exactly there. Acting on a tip about "anti-social activities" at the property, police walk into their room and refuse to hear out Swathi's protest that the two are brother-in-law and sister-in-law from a respectable family. The cops' response is blunt: everyone caught in a raid says the same thing. Both are taken into custody while Madan keeps insisting on their relationship, to no effect.

Back home, Seshام catches the news on TV and the shock ripples through the house. Bhramarambha breaks down, blaming Raj for driving her daughter and son-in-law out in the first place, and drags up old wounds: the function where Lucky was announced as her son, the friction that followed, Madan storming out. Rekha, unusually, backs her up, accusing the family of engineering the whole fallout. Indu cuts through the shouting and says the priority right now is getting Madan and Swathi out of the police station, not assigning blame.

That urgency runs into a wall almost immediately. Rekha and Bhramarambha volunteer to go, but Aparna points out that Madan is furious with them specifically and won't listen to a word they say, so it has to be Raj and Indu instead. Raj argues, reasonably enough, that Madan and Swathi are adults who left home on their own and that staying in a hotel isn't a crime by itself, but Bhramarambha isn't interested in nuance, worried only about what the neighbours will say. Subhash eventually settles it by sending Raj and Indu to the station regardless of the risk of another confrontation.

The raid plot overshadows what's actually a rare thaw between Raj and Indu earlier in the episode. Indu is livid on learning Raj knew all along that Aishwarya had orchestrated her kidnapping and kept it from her, on top of the Lucky and Siri secrets he's sat on before. Raj's defence, that he didn't want her hurt by the truth about her own sister, doesn't land cleanly, but the argument ends in an odd truce: both agree that whatever Aishwarya's motives, her scheme is the reason they met and discovered they're related by marriage. Elsewhere, Siri, still without her memory, is being looked after by Venky, who reminds Raj that all of this is being done for Indu's sake, not just Siri's, and warns him not to break that trust.

Whether Madan and Swathi walk out of the station clean, or whether Bhramarambha's worst fears about the neighbourhood gossip come true, is where the next episode has to pick up.
