In an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, Raj described the removal of certain sequences as "purely a creative call." She emphasized that only the director knows what serves the story best. "Sometimes, we have to let the director take the lead," she said, adding that the film’s strength lies in Nelson’s decisions to trim, add, and rework scenes.
Raj noted there was no scene combining her character with Rajinikanth, which may explain the lack of chemistry in her segment. Still, she defended the rhythm of the film, stating viewers don’t feel any 'lag' — a sign, she believes, that the edits worked.
The controversy stems from reports that actors including Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, and Santhanam had their appearances reduced or entirely cut. Producer Antony Perumbavoor, a longtime collaborator of Mohanlal, reportedly expressed disappointment over the star’s limited screen time. The omission of Santhanam’s cameo has also drawn criticism from fans familiar with his comedic style.
