Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed 800 crores at the box office, cementing its place as the highest-grossing Tamil film ever — and not just in Tamil Nadu. The sequel, released on October 15, has stormed through Kerala, where it earned over 76 crores, becoming the top non-Tamil film in the state since Baahubali 2.
In Karnataka, the dubbed version has already raked in more than 9 crores, edging past Pushpa 2 to become the biggest Kannada-dubbed release of all time. That’s a record even Allu Arjun couldn’t match. And yet, the 1000-crore dream remains unfulfilled. No North Indian multiplexes.
No Canada rollout. Just a quiet, regional triumph. Fans are furious, not at the film, but at Sun Pictures’ distribution strategy. They say this was a missed opportunity, that with proper pan-India push, Rajinikanth could’ve broken the 1000-crore barrier.
