The actor played Narasimha's wife in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and revealed it was her maiden on-screen pairing with Shivarajkumar despite decades of family ties between them.
Meghana Raj Sarja has just worked with Shivarajkumar for the first time. That's the detail buried inside her Instagram post about Jailer 2, and it's a bigger deal than it sounds given how long the two families have moved in the same Kannada industry circles.
In Nelson's sequel, which has now crossed ₹500 crore worldwide since its October 15 release, Meghana plays the wife of Narasimha, the character Shivarajkumar reprised after his entry became one of the standout moments of the 2023 original. She shares the frame with both Shivarajkumar and Rajinikanth in the film, but it's the Shivarajkumar scenes that clearly stayed with her.
"Jailer 2 has a very special connect with Karnataka, and getting an opportunity to act opposite our Shivanna was a blessing " she wrote, before admitting the obvious: "Incidentally, this is my very first collaboration with Anna." Given how entrenched both families are in Sandalwood, that's a surprising gap to close only now.
She didn't stop at Shivarajkumar. Meghana also had praise for Geethakka being on set, and singled out stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza, the man behind the action in films like Max and Bhairathi Ranagal, for designing the sequence's fight blocks. "Sweetest, most charismatic and an extremely sensible stunt director," she called him, crediting him for the action beats that have drawn attention since release.
There's a quieter layer to this post too. October carries weight for Meghana beyond any film release. It's close to the birthdays of her late husband, actor Chiranjeevi Sarja, and their son Raayan. She'd earlier described October 15, the day Jailer 2 opened, as an unforgettable date in its own right. "Some milestones come with a little extra emotion, and this will always be one of them," she said.
Jailer 2 itself keeps rolling. The ₹500-crore mark globally puts it firmly among the year's bigger hits, and the Rajinikanth-Shivarajkumar pairing has clearly been one of the draws for audiences in Karnataka specifically, given how Cinema Express frames the film's connect to the state. Whether that translates into more joint projects for Meghana and Shivarajkumar remains to be seen, but after this first outing, a second one wouldn't take decades to arrange.
For now, the BTS photos are doing the talking, Chethan D'Souza is getting his flowers for the action design, and a first-time pairing that probably should have happened years ago has finally landed on screen.
