Kangana Ranaut is stepping into a new kind of darkness — not political, not personal, but cinematic. At HorrorCon India 2026 in New Delhi on Halloween night, Rana Daggubati dropped the first official word: she’ll star in Scary Picture, a Hindi-language horror film directed by Telugu filmmaker Ravi Babu. The announcement came live on stage, with a title card flashing up on screen, no press release, no teaser, just a moment of pure genre hype.

Kangana didn’t wait for a formal nod. She reposted a clip from an Instagram page showing the reveal, confirming her involvement without a single press statement. Her last film was Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a dramatised account of nurses during the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Now, she’s trading trauma for terror.

Ravi Babu, son of veteran actor Chalapathi Rao, has been directing and acting since 2002. His recent work includes Razor (2026), a Telugu horror that leaned into psychological unease. This will be his first Hindi project, and a high-stakes one. Horror fans are already speculating: can he translate his regional success to pan-India audiences?

And will Kangana bring the same intensity she showed in Raaz: The Mystery Continues or Chandramukhi 2? No script details have surfaced. No production timeline. Just a name, a director, and a star who once said she’d never do another horror film after Chandramukhi 2.

That promise, like so many others, seems to have been buried under the weight of a new scream. The film’s release date remains unconfirmed. But the countdown has begun.
