Fourteen days in, and the big-screen version of Mirzapur has quietly done something a lot of people doubted it could: turn a profit that outranks most of this year's Hindi releases.

The film added Rs 3.8 crore on its second Thursday, a marginal uptick from Wednesday's Rs 3.7 crore, according to figures reported by Koimoi. Not a number that gets anyone excited on its own. But stack up the fortnight and the second-week total comes to Rs 54.25 crore, a 64.72% fall from the opening week's Rs 153.77 crore. That's a steep drop, the kind every big-ticket theatrical release takes once the opening rush wears off. The film's net now stands at Rs 208.02 crore, which works out to a gross of Rs 295.22 crore.

Here's the part that matters more than the daily number. Mirzapur The Movie was made on a budget of Rs 90 crore. Against that, a net of Rs 208.02 crore means an ROI of Rs 118.02 crore, per Koimoi's calculations. That's enough to edge past Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, whose final ROI closed at Rs 111.12 crore. In percentage terms, Koimoi puts the returns at 131.13%, comfortably enough to earn the film a hit verdict under its own tracking parameters.

Where it sits among 2026's winners

On pure ROI, the film is now Bollywood's third most profitable release of the year, trailing only Dhurandhar 2's Rs 961.32 crore and Hanuman Ansh's Rs 241.58 crore, both per the same tracker. For a project that started life as a streaming show and carried real skepticism about whether that audience would show up in theatres, that's not a small thing.

Credit for the film's shape goes to director Gurmmeet Singh, with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar producing under Excel Entertainment alongside Amazon MGM Studios. The cast leans entirely on the show's original ensemble, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan all reprising their roles, which is probably the single biggest reason word of mouth held even after the opening-week numbers cooled off.

Elsewhere in Indian theatres this week, the picture looks a lot less kind. Karthi and SJ Suryah's Sardar 2 has struggled through its first week, Pinkvilla reported, managing just Rs 65 lakh on Day 8 and an eight-day gross of around Rs 17.75 crore, with Tamil Nadu contributing the bulk of that at Rs 9.75 crore. The film is also up against Mandaadi, which is having a strong run of its own in the same window.

Mirzapur The Movie doesn't have that problem. The bigger question now is whether its second-week hold, still down nearly two-thirds from the opener, steadies out in week three or keeps sliding toward a quiet exit.
