November 20. That’s the new date for Om. The Mammootty-Dhanush film, once poised for a mid-October release, has now been pushed back to avoid clashing with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 — which hits theatres on October 15, and to sidestep the Diwali rush, where Suriya’s Scene is already booked in. The shift isn’t just about timing. It’s about space. A rare Tamil-language project with two of South India’s biggest stars sharing screen time, Om is being treated like a heavyweight bout, not a casual entry. Dhanush, who’s also producing under Wunderbar Films, had earlier said he didn’t want the film to be squeezed into a festival window it wasn’t built for. Now, the wait extends into November. Still, the momentum hasn’t faded. The film, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy (Amaran), has a crew that reads like a dream team: Rajeevan on production design, A Pannerselvam as art director, Yannick Ben handling action, Sandy Master choreographing dance sequences. And yes. This isn’t their first time together. Dhanush made a cameo in Mammootty’s Malayalam film Proprietors: Kammath and Kammath, marking his debut. But Om? That’s a full-on collaboration. Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag are co-producers, RTake Studios involved. The makers aren’t rushing. They’re choosing their moment. November 20. Not a launch. A statement.
