The Hurun India Rich List 2026 pegs his fortune at Rs 10,000 crores, nearly Rs 2,500 crores lower than last year's estimate, even as he tops the actors' table again.
Shah Rukh Khan is still the richest actor in the country. That much hasn't changed. What has is the number attached to his name.
The Hurun India Rich List 2026 puts his estimated net worth at Rs 10,000 crores, down from the Rs 12,490 crores the list credited him with last year. That's a drop of roughly 20 percent in twelve months, which is not a small correction for anyone, let alone a man whose brand has only gotten louder since Pathaan. Earlier this year, the Hurun Global Rich List had actually pegged him higher, at Rs 10,800 crores, so the estimates themselves have been moving around a fair bit even before this latest edition.
Whatever the exact figure, nobody else in Indian cinema is close. Khan's fortune isn't sitting in a bank account from film fees alone. Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house he runs with Gauri Khan, does a lot of the heavy lifting, spanning film production and visual effects work through its affiliated arms. Then there's Knight Riders Sports, the entity behind IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, which has quietly become one of the more durable parts of his financial picture over the years.
On screen, though, he's been absent for a while now. His last theatrical run was 2023, the year he came back swinging with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, three films that between them reset what a Khan comeback could look like at the box office. Nothing since. That changes on December 24, when King opens in theatres, directed by Siddharth Anand and featuring Khan opposite his daughter Suhana Khan, her first big lead role alongside her father.
Whether King moves the needle on next year's rich list is a different question, and not one anyone can answer in September. Wealth estimates like Hurun's are built on business valuations, market conditions and a fair bit of assumption, which is presumably why the numbers for the same man have swung by thousands of crores across three different lists inside a single year. What's consistent is the position at the top. Whether the gap to the next name on the list has narrowed or widened isn't something the report spells out, and it's worth watching once the full rankings settle. For now, the header stays the same. It's the fine print that's moved.
