You Can See Everything is already selling out at Alamo Drafthouse — and not just because it’s a doc about Elizabeth Holmes. The A24 documentary, directed by Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder, has hit record presales for any film in the chain’s history, trailing only Avengers: Doomsday in ticket demand. That’s a big deal, especially since Doom’s release isn’t until December 18. You Can See Everything opens limited on October 16. No other A24 title, or documentary, for that matter. Has ever seen this kind of pre-show buzz. It premiered unexpectedly at Telluride earlier this year, shot in secrecy during early 2023. The three-hour film follows Holmes in intense, unfiltered conversations with Fielder as she and partner Billy Evans plan Theranos’ comeback. Fielder doesn’t hold back, he drills into Evans, the father of her children, with a mix of deadpan irony and forensic scrutiny. As one critic put it, you start wondering who’s actually sane. The LA premiere at the Academy Museum drew a crowd of industry heavyweights: Bill Hader moderated a Q&A with Fielder and Oppenheim, joined by Damon Lindelof, Clea DuVall, Alex Winter, and composer Nathan Johnson. The film is currently 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 20 reviews. Oppenheim, known for his doc work, is also releasing his first narrative feature, Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson, which has grossed over $35 million in the US so far. But the real talk right now? This isn’t just another true crime doc. It’s a cultural event. And if the presales are any guide, people aren’t just watching to see what happened. They’re watching to see how much they can believe.
