Daayra's first Monday tells a familiar story. The Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer, which opened to Rs 0.94 crore on Friday, has slipped to Rs 0.47 crore on Day 4, according to Bollywood Hungama's box office tracking. That's a 66.19% fall from Sunday's Rs 1.39 crore, and it puts the film's weekday debut at roughly half of what it made on its opening day.
The weekend itself wasn't bad. Saturday saw a healthy 50% jump over Friday to Rs 1.41 crore, and Sunday held nearly level with just a 1.42% dip. Three days in, Daayra had banked Rs 3.74 crore, the kind of weekend curve that suggests word of mouth was doing some work, at least among the audiences who showed up.
Monday changed the conversation. A drop of this size on the first weekday isn't unusual for a mid-scale release without major openers backing it, but it does mean Daayra now sits at Rs 4.24 crore total after four days, and the film needs the rest of the week to behave very differently if it wants to build anything close to a real run.
What the numbers mean
Box office trackers generally treat the first Monday as the real test after a weekend cushion. A film that's working tends to lose less than half its Sunday number. Daayra lost closer to two-thirds. That's the kind of slide that usually points to a front-loaded audience, people who wanted to catch it early and aren't being replaced by fresh walk-ins during the week.
There's no official studio comment yet on the Day 4 figures, and Bollywood Hungama's report frames the coming days as the deciding factor rather than a verdict already delivered. The film crossed Rs 4 crore on aggregate, which isn't nothing, but the margin for error on a mid-week hold has narrowed fast.
Daayra is up against a crowded theatrical calendar this month, with bigger commercial titles pulling screen share and footfall in multiplexes. Whether exhibitors keep show counts steady through the rest of the week or start trimming them will say a lot about how the trade is reading these numbers internally.
The next checkpoint is Tuesday's collection. If the slide from Monday continues at a similar rate, Daayra's first-week total will land well short of what its weekend suggested was possible. If it stabilises even modestly, the film still has a shot at a respectable opening week. Either way, the numbers over the next 48 hours will decide which story this becomes.
