Suriya’s upcoming film Scene is facing early backlash after a leaked synopsis suggests it repeats the plot of his 2003 blockbuster Kaakha Kaakha. With a Diwali release on November 6, the film’s fate now hinges on whether director Jithu Madhavan can reinvent a tired premise.
Suriya’s 2026 run is no longer just a comeback — it’s a challenge to the throne. With two films already clearing ₹500 crore globally, the actor is on track to surpass Thalapathy Vijay’s 2023 record as Kollywood’s highest-grossing star in a single year.
The film, Suriya 47, is Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil debut after Romancham and Aavesham. It stars Suriya, Naslen (with speculation about an antagonist role), Anandraj, Lal, and Nazriya Nazim, whose look was first revealed via the new single ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’.
SS Rajamouli was asked point-blank about teaming up with Suriya at a pre-release event, and chose to dodge it, saying the answer would overshadow the film being promoted that day.
Mookuthi Amman 2 is reportedly stepping back from its Diwali release after teaser criticism over VFX quality, according to Track Tollywood. That would leave Suriya's Scene as the sole big Tamil release on November 6.
Suriya's Diwali release Scene, directed by Aavesham's Jithu Madhavan, aims to make it three 200-crore hits in 2026 after Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, banking on a rare Tamil-Malayalam cast combination.
Suriya and director Jithu Madhavan have titled their upcoming film Scene, confirming a November 6 Diwali release with Nazriya, Naslen and composer Sushin Shyam rounding out the cast and crew.
